This bespoke ‘Luna’ signet ring has been designed by James Wilson and created locally by hand in Brighton.
No mining or use of new silver and gold. I only produce jewellery using repurposed precious metals.
The plating embellishment is very high quality compared with most standard plating however it is still plating so needs to be treated as so by taking it off when washing up, showering etc, taking care to not scratch or blemish the ring, not using harsh chemicals and following the cleaning care card. Plating is available as follows: 24K gold vermeil which is 24K heavy plated 5.0 microns on sterling silver or 24K gold which is heavy plated 3.0 microns on brass
UK Size M / US + CAD Size 6 1/4 / Inside Diameter 16.71mm — Should fit either the middle or pinky finger of most people.
Some information about gold plated jewellery:
Gold plating can range in thickness between 0.17 to 2.5 microns
Plating with a thickness of around 0.17 is called gold electroplated or gold wash/flashed. This is an extremely thin layer (about 0.05% of gold) and is only recommended for jewellery pieces that are sheltered from heavy wear and tear, like pendants and earrings. This thickness of plating wears off quite quickly!
The ideal thickness for gold plating is around 0.5 to 1.0 microns. While this might sound like a thin layer, it’s sufficient even for jewellery pieces that are exposed to rough wear, like rings and bracelets
Plating at around the 2.5-microns mark is quite thick and known as heavy gold plated and the main benefit is that the plating lasts even longer and is more hard wearing as it’s thicker
Gold Vermeil plating however is a plating method in which the gold has to be a minimum of 10K pure and 2.5microns thick and is applied only onto silver pieces
However for my gold vermeil I use heavy gold vermeil plating of 5.0 microns thick and for all of my plating options I opt for higher quality and purity so only use 18K or 24K in my work
I hope you’ll love them as much as I do!
CARING & INFORMATION
All of my luna are made in solid 925 sterling silver and gold vermeil. To take best care of your ring I suggest following these steps, if you want to keep it on 24/7 I offer a bespoke re plating service for £30
Avoid contact with abrasive surfaces to minimise scratches.
Gold vermeil jewellery will wear off over time, however, you can ensure that it lasts as long as possible taking extra care when wearing, storing and cleaning.
Please take care when handling gold plated jewellery to protect the layer of gold from excess wear and scratching. Although gold-plated jewellery will not tarnish over time like silver, the gold appearance may slightly fade depending on wear and exposure to chemicals and cosmetics.
Avoid wearing gold plated jewellery whilst showering, bathing or swimming. Chlorine, in particular, can permanently damage or discolour your gold plated jewellery.
It is advisable to remove all jewellery when partaking in any physical or labour intensive activities. For this same reason, it is also advisable not to wear jewellery when asleep at night.
Always remove your gold plated jewellery when applying perfume and cosmetics. When removed please make sure to keep all jewellery in separate pouches or boxes to prevent pieces rubbing and scratching against one another.
To clean your product, you can wipe it with care using a clean and soft cloth. When not in use, we recommend storing the product in the bag and box provided.
